Kas

Kas is a delightful harbour town. Its unique atmosphere has made it a popular haunt over the years for artists, painters, crafts people, musicians and writers, giving it a lively bohemian feel. So far, the centre of Kas with its traditional cobbled streets and bougainvillea covered houses, has avoided some of the excesses of mass tourism. The relaxed ambience, colourful streets, quiet coves, startlingly turquoise, crystal clear water all combine to make Kas a very special town. Standing atop the historic Simena Castle or gazing down through the clear blue waters to the sunken town on Kekova island, is a deeply memorable experience, while Gokkaya bay is one of the most enchanting stretches of water imaginable and on hot summer nights, the silent waters sparkle with bewitching bioluminescence, known in Turkish as yakamoz.
